Dr Chung obtained his dental degree from National University of Singapore in 1983 under a local merit bursary award from PSC, Singapore. After fulfilling his National Service obligations as a dental officer in the army, he left for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA for his postgraduate training and obtained his Masters in Science and Certificate in Periodontics at Temple University in 1988.

Dr Chung returned to Singapore and served in the Ministry of Health and National Dental Centre from 1988 to 1998. He was sent on a Ministry of Health, HMDP fellowship where he was appointed visiting scientist at Eastman Dental Centre, University of Rochester in 1993. He was also a visiting research fellow at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, MA under the Seah Cheng Siang Traveling Research Fellowship administered by the Academy of Medicine, Singapore 1994.

Dr Chung has been involved teaching part time at NUS for more than 20 years. He serves as a member of the Complaints Panel of Singapore Dental Council and has been serving as an internal examiner from its first examinations for the NUS Master in Dental Surgery Programme (Periodontics).

Furthermore, in the area of continuing dental education, Dr Chung has had the privilege of presenting lectures at scientific meetings and conferences in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong (SAR, China), India, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, US, Vietnam.

– Adjunct Associate Professor in Periodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, National University of – Singapore
– Visiting Consultant, Dental Centre, National University Hospital
– Member of Editorial Advisory Board, Dental Asia

In addition, Dr Chung is an active member of Covenant Community Methodist Church where he currently serves in the Missions Committee and was previously the Sunday School Superintendent.

Dr Chung left the public sector to become a partner in RCOLL in 1998, bringing with him more than 20 years of experience in Periodontics. His practice is limited to Dental Implants and Periodontics where he specializes in gum conditions and diseases such as gingivitis, bad breathe, gum abscess and recession.
