Graduated in Singapore in 1958, Dr Choo was awarded the Queens Scholarship by the Government of Singapore to pursue post graduate studies in the UK where he obtained the Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons, UK.

In 1985, Dr Choo was invited to present a key note paper at the Federation Dentaire Internationale (FDI) Congress in Belgrade. This is an international federation of national dental associations and organizations whose aim is to attain optimal oral health for all people.

Since then, he has been very active in the Federation Dentaire Internationale (FDI) World Dental Federation, servicing as Co-Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Scientific Programme. He was awarded the FDI Merit Award, appointed the FDI Programme director in 2002 and Honorary Advisor to the Singapore FDI World Dental Congress (2009).

He was appointed to embark on developing a Continuing Education Programme for the FDI World Wide, serving firstly as Continuing Education Program Manager (1993-2002) and later as Continuing Education Program Director (2002-2008).

Dr Choo went into private practice (1962 till present) whilst holdings a visiting teaching position at the National University of Singapore, in the discipline of Orthodontics, Conservative Dentistry and Practice management for 37 years. Dr Choo is currently the clinical director of RCOLL, with 44 years of experience.
